Last updated: November 1, 2026
- Leyener is free to use for personal learning.
- The lessons may contain mistakes, so don't rely on them for anything important.
- You're responsible for the texts you import.
- The service is provided as is, and we may change or stop it.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Leyener at leyener.com (the “Service”), operated by Ben Baruch (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use Leyener
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you.
3. The Service
Leyener is a free tool for learning languages by reading. It runs in your browser and stores your progress on your device. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, without notice and without liability to you.
4. Your license to use Leyener
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service and its built-in content for your own non-commercial learning. You may not:
- copy, republish, sell or distribute the built-in stories, lessons, word lists or other content, except short excerpts for personal study or with credit to Leyener for teaching;
- scrape or bulk-download the content, or use it to train or build a competing product or AI model;
- interfere with the Service, try to gain unauthorized access, or use it for anything unlawful;
- remove notices of ownership or misrepresent where the content comes from.
5. Our content
The Service, its design and its built-in stories, lessons, grammar explanations, word lists and examples are owned by Ben Baruch and protected by copyright and other laws. Typefaces and software libraries belong to their authors and are used under their licenses (see About › Credits and licenses).
Accuracy. The built-in content was written with the help of artificial intelligence and has not all been reviewed by native speakers. It may contain errors in spelling, grammar, vowel marks, readings, transliteration or translation. The Service is for general learning only. Do not rely on it for professional, legal, medical, religious, academic or official translation or advice.
6. Your content
You can import texts, files and other material (“Your Content”). Your Content stays on your device, and we do not receive, review or host it. You are responsible for Your Content and confirm you have the right to use it, for example because you own it, it is in the public domain, or your personal use is permitted by law. Don't import material you don't have the right to use.
If you turn on free machine translation, parts of Your Content are sent to a third-party translation service as described in the Privacy Policy.
7. Third-party services and links
The Service uses and links to third-party services, including translation services, dictionaries, font and file-reading providers, and your device's speech voices. We don't control them and are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
If you use the version of Leyener inside Claude (claude.ai), your use of Claude is also governed by Anthropic's terms.
8. Your data and backups
Your progress is stored only in your browser. It can be lost if you clear your browser data, change devices, use private browsing, or if your browser removes it. We hold no copy and cannot recover it. Use Options › Export backup regularly.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT YOUR DATA WILL BE PRESERVED, OR THAT YOU WILL REACH ANY PARTICULAR LEVEL IN A LANGUAGE.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BEN BARUCH WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROGRESS, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY U.S. DOLLARS (US$50). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
11. Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold harmless Ben Baruch from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of anyone else's rights, including through Your Content.
12. Copyright complaints
If you believe content in the Service infringes your copyright, email hello@leyener.com with: your contact details; a description of the work; where the material appears in the Service; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. We will review and respond to valid notices.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your data by clearing this site's data in your browser. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction, except where the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the Service after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
16. General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service, and you may not transfer your rights under them.
